Raffaele Masellis is the founder of the Masellis Family Law Group.
Raffaele graduated from York University in 1996 with a Specialized Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy Administration. He represented York at the 1994 Harvard University National Model United Nations Conference in Cambridge, Mass., U.S.A.
Raffaele went on to study law at the Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Lansing, Mich., U.S.A. While at Cooley, Raffaele was an active member in the Moot Court and Trial Advocacy Programs. He represented Cooley at the 2000 U.S. National Mock-Trial Competition at Michigan State University and was a Teaching Assistant in the Trial Advocacy Program. He graduated in 2001 and was awarded the degree of Juris Doctor.
During the summer of 2001, Raffaele clerked at the Crown Attorney’s Office in downtown Toronto. He worked closely with several Crown Attorneys researching criminal law, writing memoranda and factums, and assisting in the preparation and running of pre-trials, judicial pre-trials, preliminary hearings and trials. He went on to article with a small general practice in Toronto. During his articles he was exposed to various areas of law but quickly realized Family Law was his passion. The day after his call to the bar he hung out his shingle and has never looked back.
Since then, Raffaele has successfully represented hundreds of clients in the negotiation, mediation, arbitration and court process. He appears regularly in the Ontario Court of Justice and the Superior Court of Justice as counsel for his clients. Raffaele also appears as Duty Counsel and Advice Counsel in these courts on a per diem basis several times a month assisting unrepresented litigants. He finds it professionally and personally rewarding helping people who otherwise would not have legal representation. It also affords him the opportunity to hone his advocacy and court room skills as he often only has a few minutes to meet with a client, review their court documents, interview them and then argue their case in open court.
Raffaele gives back to the community by volunteering his time discussing Family Law issues at various community events across the GTA. Raffaele’s focus, attention to detail, knowledge of the law and procedure, persuasiveness, and tenacity translates to achieving extraordinary results for his clients.
Raffaele offers his services to both English and Italian speaking clients.
